Gamescom Pro Guide

Written by Julie-Anne, Marketing Manager | Mon, Aug 12, 2024

Our annual pilgrimage across the Atlantic has finally come. This year, four of our team members will be on-site from August 21 to 25, eager to meet with developers, publishers, marketers, and anyone interested in the evolving world of influencer marketing. If not done yet, book a meeting with Antoine, Maria or Xavier on MeetToMatch or stop by our booth in Hall 3 with Games from Québec delegation and Investissment Québec! (Hall 3.2 E018g F019g to be exact)

"Heading to Gamescom 2024 feels like returning to a familiar playground—exciting, energetic, and filled with the people and passions that make this industry so special. As a huge gamer myself, it's incredible to be part of this event for the third year in a row. We’re exhibitors again this year, bringing some exciting updates that I can't wait to share with everyone. I’m really looking forward to reconnecting with clients, colleagues, and fellow gamers—see you on the floor!" - Xavier, CEO

How to do Gamescom 101

Gamescom is massive, and with so much to see and do, it can be overwhelming. It is not our first time at Gamescom; here are some of our tips to make the most of your experience!

Reconnaissance is the name of the game

"Oh, you've got 60 meetings booked, back to back? Great! Did you check WHERE they're taking place? No? Oh... Oh no...

Gamescom is MASSIVE and with 30-minute meeting slots, getting from one place to the other can easily make you late to every. single. one. of them. Set aside some time in your early schedule to try and familiarize yourself with the venue so you're not left wondering where you need to run to next!" - Antoine, Director of Business Development

Set break times

Okay, I admit, I also struggle with this, but hear me out: Scheduling a few short breaks during the day can make all the difference. It's probably the hardest to implement. But it's super important to plan those breaks in advance, or you'll never be able to grab that quick snack, take that bathroom break, or step outside for a breath of fresh air.

Sit down and regroup with your team

"After a busy day, it’s a great idea to carve out some time to wind down. Use these moments to gather your thoughts, organize any notes, and prep for the next day. It’s a simple way to stay on top of things while also giving yourself a chance to enjoy the rest of your evening! And your future self will thank you a thousand times (iykyk)."  - Maria, Account Executive

Leave your hotel or AirBnB early

Cologne’s public transport system is your best friend during Gamescom. But you won't be alone taking the transit; around 320,000 people are expected. So leave early, especially on the days open to the public!

Wear comfy shoes

"The Gamescom venue is 230,000 sqm. You could easily walk over your goal of 10k steps per day! Wearing good shoes can make or break your day. But as a fashion girly, they also need to look good! Here are some of my recommendations, a result of an extensive Tiktok research:

New Balance 530: These have been recommended countless times on TikTok, and they're making a comeback on Instagram. Do I need to say more?

Adidas Samba: My favourite Instagram fashion influencers often wear Sambas. They're timeless, they go with everything, and they're comfortable!" - Julie-Anne, Marketing Manager
